Genea’s integration with Ambient.ai allows you to stream Access Control events directly from Genea into Ambient’s intelligent security platform. Once enabled, Ambient.ai can correlate Genea ACS events (Access Granted, Access Denied, DFO/DHO, etc.) with their AI-powered video analytics on the Ambient side.
This is a one-way integration:
Genea → Ambient.ai
No video, alarms, or device data are sent back to Genea.
What This Integration Enables
When enabled, Genea will send all relevant ACS events for the selected location(s) to Ambient.ai, including:
Access Granted
Access Denied (with detailed subtypes)
Door Forced Open (DFO)
Door Held Open (DHO)
Control Point events
Monitor Point events
Each event includes:
Device Name
Mapped Device Type (Reader / Alarm Input, based on event)
Event Name & Description
Person First & Last Name
Person UID
Access Item Key (if available)
Location UUID (used by Ambient to route events to the correct customer site)
Ambient.ai will use this data to identify devices and help customers map Genea readers to camera streams on their platform.
What the Integration Does NOT Do
Genea does not receive video from Ambient.ai.
Genea does not display Ambient.ai camera feeds or clips.
Genea does not sync people/devices/alarm definitions with Ambient.
Genea does not provide camera-to-door mapping this is handled entirely inside Ambient.ai.
Prerequisites
An active Ambient.ai account.
Ambient must support Genea ACS for your customer environment.
Customer must map devices and camera streams inside Ambient.ai.
No API key is required on the Genea side.
Setting Up & Managing the Integration
Navigate to the 'Integrations' tab in your Genea admin dashboard.
Scroll down and find the 'Video Management Systems' integrations, and click 'Install' under the Ambient.ai.
After installation, you’ll see a list of all locations in your Genea environment. For each location:
Click Enable to start sending events for that site.
Genea will begin streaming real-time ACS events to Ambient.ai for enabled locations.
When a location is enabled, you will see:
Location UUID - copyable
Disable option
Connection Health Overview (once expanded)
To help confirm that your integration is healthy, Genea provides a quick view for each location:
When expanding a location row, you’ll see:
Last successful and failed event in last 7 days
Last Success Event (timestamp + name)
Last Failed Event (timestamp + name)
Event Type
Description
This provides a fast way for admins to confirm whether events are flowing correctly.
You can also click Refresh to fetch the latest statuses.
You can disable a location at any time by clicking Disable.
To remove the integration entirely:
Click Uninstall at the top-right of the Ambient.ai integration page.
Uninstalling stops all event streaming for all locations.
Audit Logs (Location View)
Audit Logs provide a detailed history of any change in Ambietn Integration. You can locate it in Audit Logs (Select Location > 'Activity' Menu from Navbar > 'Audit Logs' Tab) section of Location Overview.
Troubleshooting

Ensure at least one location is Enabled in Genea.

Events failing in Genea UI
Expand the location -> check Failed Event messages.
Click Refresh to update status.
Contact Genea Support if failures continue.
Device not appearing in Ambient
Confirm events for that device (reader/sensor) exist in Genea for that location.
Reach out to Ambient Support if failure continues.
