Reader Interface Module (SIO)

The Keri Reader Interface Module (RIM) connects Wiegand readers to the NXT controller via the RM3 module.

Configuring NXT RM3 for a Wiegand Reader

Reference Document: Configure NXT RM3 for Wiegand Reader

Step 1: Enter Programming Mode

  1. Press and hold both buttons (SW1 & SW2) on the RM3 module for about 2 seconds.

  2. All 7 LEDs will flash 3 times.

  3. Release the buttons — the module is now in configuration mode.

Button Functions in Programming Mode:

  • SW1: Scroll through options

  • SW2: Select the highlighted option

Step 2: Select Reader Type

Supported reader types:

  • D4: Keri MS Reader (default)

  • D5: Wiegand Reader

  • D6: Keri Keypad Reader

  • D7: Wiegand Keypad Combo

Steps:

  1. Press SW1 repeatedly until the D5 LED lights up for Wiegand.

  2. Press SW2 to select it.

If you selected D5, continue to Step 3 to configure the LED Control Mode.

Step 3: Choose LED Line Control Mode

  • The default mode is Dual-line (used for Keri Keypad readers).

  • For Wiegand readers, choose the appropriate Single-Line or Dual-Line LED mode.

Steps:

  1. Press SW1 to scroll through LED control options.

  2. When the correct LED mode is lit, press SW2 to select it.

  3. Press SW2 two more times to save the settings and reboot the module.

⚠️ Do not remove power during reboot. The process takes approximately 10 seconds, and the LEDs will flash as the module resets.

REX and Door Switch Mapping

The following is how the inputs and outputs map based on which port the reader is connected to. Note that these do not change between the 2D and 4D version of controller.

NXT Controller Configurations

NXT-2D MSC Controller

  • Designed with two ports.

  • Genea input numbers are indicated in red on reference diagrams.

Wiring Reference:

NXT-4D MSC Controller

  • Designed with four ports.

NOTES:

Keri SIO Module

  • Keri controllers do not support simultaneous use of the internal reader port and an external SIO interface.

  • If a door is connected to the internal port, SIO configuration must be prevented.

  • To use SIO:

    1. Remove the existing door from the internal port.

    2. Reset and resync the controller.

    3. Add the new interface panel.

Genea Cloud validates this automatically when creating a new Interface Panel.

LED Drive Mode Configuration

  • For OSDP readers on the Keri Controller Internal Interface Panel, the LED Drive Mode functions as expected.

  • For Wiegand readers connected via RM3:

    • Wiring and LED control must be configured within the RM3 interface panel.

    • Set LED Control to D2 on the RM3 interface panel.

    • Dual-Line LED diagrams are available for reference.
