What is the Use of Google Wallet in Access Control?

Google Wallet in Access Control allows users to use their Android phones as credentials for accessing controlled areas. The Google Wallet Tap & Access card functions through NFC technology, enabling communication with HID Access Control Readers.

This integration supports day-to-day operations such as granting access, where users can provision their Google Wallet Pass to their Android phones. These passes then act as credentials that users can swipe or tap at HID Access Control Readers to gain entry.

Pre-requisite:

  • Android Device Requirements:

    • Android OS version 12 and above.

    • Support of NFC (Near Field Communication) technology - enabled during Tap & Access operations

  • Software Requirements:

    • Google Wallet app must be installed on the Android device.

    • Genea Mobile Access Android App version 3.11.0 and above

Google Wallet Solution is in continuous improvement stage. Please confirm the End Users' Operations country as well where HID and Google are supporting the Google Wallet Services. US, UK, Canada are in list of supported countries.

However, access to the mobile wallet is restricted at the user level and can be configured from the User Profile settings.
