In order for a reader to be able to read and grant access to users utilizing Genea mobile keys, the reader must be configured with the Genea MOB key and the Genea configuration template.

All readers purchased and provided by Genea will come pre-configured and ready for mobile key use. If you have opted to purchase readers from a third-party vendor, you will need to configure the reader in order to use mobile access.

In order to configure a door reader to read and accept Genea credentials, you will need the following.

  • An iOS or Android Mobile Device

  • An HID Signo / MultiCLASS SE HID Reader

  • HID Reader Manager App (available for free on iOS and Android devices)

  • Genea MOB Key Invitation (available via request from a Genea associate)

  • Default Configuration Template (provided by a Genea representative)

HOW TO CONFIGURE A READER

  1. Download the HID Reader Manager app. Create a technician account, and log into the app.

  2. If this is for a New Installation you must reach out directly to your Genea Project Manager or via email at implementations.acs@getgenea.com to request an invitation to use the Genea MOB key. If this is for an existing customer, you may reach out to Genea Support at 866-935-1557 or at acsupport@getgenea.com to request an invitation to use the Genea MOB key. Once invited, you will be assigned an invitation code.

HOW TO REDEEM YOUR INVITATION

  1. While in the HID Reader Manager app, click on the ‘Settings’ tab.

  2. Under ‘Administration Keys,’ click ‘Enter Invitation Code.’ Enter your invitation code and press ‘Register Device.

Once registered, click on ’Show Authorized Keys’ to ensure that the MOB key has been saved to your app.

You may need to pull down on the page to refresh it in order for the MOB Key to appear. Once successfully activated, you should have the ‘MOB0771 - Sequr Commerical’ key available to you.

HOW TO APPLY THE MOB KEY TO A READER

  1. Power cycle the reader that is being configured. There is a 30 second window upon which the configuration process will need to begin. During the configuration window the reader LED will blink.

  2. Click on the ‘Home’ tab at the bottom on your HID Reader Manager app.

  3. Click ‘Scan for Readers.’

  4. A list of all nearby door readers should appear within your app. We recommend standing directly next to whatever reader you’re configuring as the reader with the lowest db will be the reader that is closest to you. For example, a reader listed with -40 db will be closer to you than a reader with -100 db.

  5. Click on the reader in your list of nearby readers. To ensure you’re configuring the correct reader, click ‘Locate’ on the page that appears. This will make the lights on the reader LED flash, and the reader may beep to indicate that you’re working on the correct reader.

  6. Once you’re sure you’re configuring the correct reader, click ‘Inspect.

  7. You will be navigated to a page titled ‘Inspection Report: from there select "Detailed Configuration".

  8. Next, select the Detailed Configuration Tab and this will send you in the Inspection Report section.

  9. While in the Inspection Report section you will need to select "keys".

  10. In the "Key" section you will select "Add Keys"

  11. While in the Authorized Keys section you will select the authorized MOB Key - MOB0771 - Sequr Commerical.

  12. Once the MOB key has been selected, you will choose "Add to the template".

  13. Now you are ready to "Apply Selected Items" and you will see a blue dot next to the "Keys" tab.

  14. Once successfully added, your app should provide you with feedback confirming the change stating "Template applied successfully".

After you’ve applied the configuration change to your reader, you may be prompted to perform a power cycle on your reader. If this occurs, please reach out to Genea Support by contact your Genea Customer Success Manager directly, or by reaching out to acsupport@getgenea.com.
