Mapping a device connects a Genea access control device - like a door or sensor - to a specific camera. This creates a link between access events and video footage, so your security team can instantly understand what happened and review the clip without manually scrubbing through recordings.
How to get there
Video Management → Device Management → Cameras → click a camera → scroll down to the Mapped Devices section
What happens when you map a device
Once a device is mapped to a camera, two things happen:
Access events from that device appear as an Access ribbon on the camera's video timeline, so you can see exactly which access events occurred while reviewing footage
Each event in the camera's Event Logs includes a direct link to the video player at that timestamp, so you can instantly review the footage tied to the event
If a device is not mapped to the camera, no access ribbon appears in the timeline for that device, and event log entries won't have associated video links.
How to map a device
On the camera's settings page, scroll to the Mapped Devices section
Click + Map Device
Select the device type from the dropdown:
Door — Standard access-controlled door
Elevator Door — Elevator cab or floor access point
Monitor Point — Input-only monitoring point (e.g., door contact, alarm sensor)
Control Point — Output control point
Sensor — Environmental or motion sensor
Select the specific device from the Device dropdown
To map additional devices to the same camera, click + Add Device and repeat
Click Save
💡 Tip: Map the door (or other device) closest to or monitored by the camera for the most useful access-video correlation. You can map multiple devices to a single camera.
Removing a mapped device
To remove a mapping, click Remove next to the device in the Mapped Devices table and save.
