When the new meters are added to your building web portal, they are listed under the "Ready to commission" section in your mobile app. Before meters are ready to be read, they need to be commissioned, or "activated".

Commissioning meters is easy, and can be done in 3 easy steps:

  1. Identify the meter in the mobile app

  2. Place a QR code sticker on the meter

  3. Confirm the QR code assignment to the meter

1. Identify the meter that you are commissioning in the Genea Submeter Billing mobile app

The best way to identify the meter is by its Serial number in the "Ready To Commission" section on the Home Screen of the Genea Submeter billing app:

  • Tap the serial number of the meter that you want to commission.

  • From the meter detail page, click on "Commission meter now".

If you do not see the expected meter in the list, please contact your Genea Support. (Details below).

2. Place the Genea-provided QR code sticker on the front plate of the meter

3. Assign an QR code (asset tag number) to the meter to finish the process

  • Scan the QR sticker on the meter and proceed.

Once the commissioning is done, the meter entry will move from "Ready to commission" to "Due to read".
