The integration of the BOSCH Intrusion System with Genea establishes a seamless connection between intrusion detection systems and the Genea application platform, enhancing security management. This integration enables users to efficiently monitor and control Bosch alarm panels directly from Genea.

Key Features of the Integration:

  1. Centralized Control: Arm, disarm, and monitor BOSCH intrusion panels from the Genea dashboard.

  2. Alarm Monitoring: Track intrusion alarms in real time, view alarm details, and take necessary actions directly from Genea.

  3. Real-time Alerts: Receive instant notifications for alarms, arming/disarming events, or security breaches.

  4. User Synchronization: Manage user permissions for both access control and intrusion systems in a single platform.

  5. Event Logging: Maintain audit trails by logging all intrusion-related activities within Genea.

Before configuring the panel in Genea, please refer to this article to ensure the Bosch panel is set up correctly for communication with Genea.

Enable Genea + BOSCH Intrusion System:

  1. If you are a global admin, navigate to the 'Integrations' tab in your admin dashboard.

2. Navigate to the Intrusion Alarm Management section and click "Install" under the Bosch Integration.

3. Select the location where BOSCH Intrusion should be enabled and click Save.

Designate a gateway for BOSCH integration

After enabling the integration for the location, add a gateway with a clear name, descriptive purpose, and its MAC ID. Click Save.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Ensure that the BOSCH intrusion controller and the Gateway reside within the same network segment or have uninterrupted IP connectivity to guarantee reliable integration and proper system functionality.

Set Up BOSCH Intrusion Controller in Genea

Adding Bosch Intrusion Controller

  1. Navigate to the location where the integration is enabled. Go to Hardware > Intrusion and click + Add.

  2. Fill in the required details:

    • Name: Enter a name for the controller.

    • Description: Provide a brief description.

    • Host Type: Select either IP Address or Host Name.

    • IP Address/Host Name: Enter the corresponding value.

    • MAC Address: Input the controller’s MAC address.

    • Port Number: Specify the port number.

    • Model Number: Choose the correct Bosch panel model.

    • Password: Enter the panel’s automation password.

    • Timezone: Select the appropriate timezone.

    • Click Save to add the intrusion controller.

Import Intrusion Inputs, Outputs and Areas from BOSCH Controller

  1. Once the intrusion controller is added and comes online, its corresponding resources—such as intrusion points, output areas, and other related components—will be automatically imported into the Genea application.

  2. The list of imported inputs and outputs can be viewed on the Intrusion Controller detail page.

  3. The imported areas will be displayed under the Areas menu.

  4. The initial import happens automatically when the panel first communicates with the Genea platform. However, if you make any changes on the Bosch side after the initial setup—such as updating a point name or changing a profile—a manual import is required. You can initiate this by clicking the "Import All" button on the Intrusion Controller detail page within the Genea platform.

Control Actions on BOSCH Controller Resources

You can perform the following remote control actions from the Genea platform on BOSCH Intrusion Controller resources:

Areas:

  • Perform all types of Master Arming

  • Perform all types of Perimeter Arming

  • Disarm the controller

  • Activate or clear the bell

  • Silence the area

  • Activate or clear watch mode

  • Reset the area's sensors

Inputs:

  • Bypass or unbypass points

Outputs:

  • Turn On or Turn Off outputs

All the above actions can be performed from the Control Center menu in your Genea admin dashboard.

Control Actions on Intrusion Areas

  1. To execute area-related control actions, go to Control Center > Areas.

  2. For example, to arm the area "Conference Room", navigate to Control Center > Areas and select the area. Then, click on Master > Force Master Instant Arm.

Once completed, the area icon changes to green, indicating that everything is functioning correctly and the area is armed.

Control Actions on Intrusion Points

To control intrusion points, go to Control Center > Inputs. From there, you can bypass or unbypass the points.

Control Actions on Intrusion Outputs

Manage Users' Intrusion Access from Genea

In the Genea platform, you can manage users' permissions for BOSCH Intrusion Controllers by configuring intrusion access.

  • This permission controls physical access to the intrusion panel.

  • Remote operations performed from the Genea dashboard are managed separately through custom role permissions assigned within Genea.

  1. Navigate to the All Users and select the user you want to provide intrusion access to.

    • Scroll down to the Intrusion Access section and click +Add.

    • Click on Add New User Access to create a fresh user in the Bosch panel.

    • Enter the following details:

      • Intrusion User Group

      • Passcode

      • Assign Area Authority

    • Click Save and Close to apply the changes.

2. If you want to sync an existing user from the BOSCH panel for further management through the Genea dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Sync Existing User Access.

  2. Fill in the required fields (similar to adding a new user).

  3. Ensure you select the correct Intrusion User Number assigned to the user in the Bosch panel—this is essential for successful synchronization.

Monitor Intrusion Alarms from the Genea Dashboard

All events received from the BOSCH intrusion panel are logged under Activity > Event Logs.

However, for critical events and alarms, you can configure preferred events to trigger as alarms through the Alarm Management module in Genea.

  1. As a Global Admin, navigate to Global Overview > Alarm Management > Settings. From there, you can make changes for the following alarm categories:

    • Intrusion Area Alarm Events

    • Intrusion Area Fault Events

    • Intrusion Controller Events

    • Intrusion Output Events

  2. Once the settings are saved, you will start receiving alarm-related notifications for the configured events.

For more information on how the Alarm Management module works in Genea, please refer to this article.

Configuring Alerts for BOSCH Intrusion Events

To receive email, Slack, MSTeams, or WebEx alerts for critical intrusion events, you can set them up in Genea.

Email Alerts:

  1. Navigate to the location view > Alerts.

  2. Scroll down to the Intrusion Controller, Intrusion Area, and Intrusion Output Alert sections.

  3. Add the recipient's email address, and you will start receiving alerts when specific events are triggered by any intrusion resource.

Slack, MS Teams, or WebEx Alerts:

To receive alerts through your preferred communication channel, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Global Overview > Integrations > Communication.

  2. Select the app (Slack, MS Teams, or WebEx) where you want to receive the alert, and choose the location.

  3. Enable the alerts by selecting the channel and the events for which you want to receive notifications.

For more information on configuring alerts in Genea, please refer to this article.

Roles and Permissions to Configure BOSCH Intrusion Integration

You must grant permission to the roles of members who need to manage the intrusion system.

To do this:

  1. Navigate to Global Overview > Custom Roles.

  2. Edit an existing role or add a new one (refer to this article for more details on custom roles).

  3. Scroll down to the Intrusion Hardware Management resource group.

  4. Grant the necessary permissions as required.

Click Save to apply the changes.
