Genea Video is cloud video management built directly into the Genea platform. It gives you live view, recorded playback, forensic search, and clip export for your cameras, in the same portal you already use for access control.
There is no separate system to log into, no separate user directory to maintain, and no integration to configure between your doors and your cameras. They are one product.
What makes it different
Most video platforms are built for video and later add access control. Genea Video works the other way around, and that changes what it can do.
Because Genea already knows about your doors, badges, and people, video and access events are connected from day one:
Access events appear on the video timeline. When a badge is read at a mapped door, you see it marked on the camera's timeline alongside motion, person, and vehicle events
Every access event links to its footage. Click an event and the player jumps to that exact moment, showing the badge holder, the door, and the timestamp
You can control doors from the video player. See who is at the door and unlock it without switching screens
To set this up, link your doors to the relevant cameras. See How to Map Devices to a Camera.
Two ways to connect cameras
Genea Video supports two deployment models. You can use either, or both together in the same account.
| Gateway | Cam2Cloud |
How it works | An on site appliance pulls video from your cameras and sends it to the cloud | A Genea app runs on the camera itself, no appliance required |
Where video is stored | Genea cloud | The camera's own SD card |
Camera support | Any IP camera | Supported Axis models |
Best for | Sites wanting cloud recording and long retention | Distributed or bandwidth constrained sites |

What you can do
Watch live video
View any camera live, individually or several at once on a camera wall. Live video travels the fastest available path, which means viewers on the same network as the gateway stream directly over the LAN rather than round tripping through the cloud.
Review recorded footage
Scrub back through recordings on a timeline that shows exactly what happened and when. Coloured bands mark motion, people, vehicles, and access events, so you can see where the activity is before you watch anything. Jump between motion events rather than scrubbing manually.
Search across cameras
Rather than watching hours of footage, describe what you are looking for and get back a set of thumbnails. Search a single camera and restrict it to a specific zone within the frame, or search up to four cameras at once to follow activity across a site.

Export and share clips
Save any segment of footage as a standalone video file for sharing with your team or handing to law enforcement. Clips are stored permanently, independent of your retention period.
Manage your cameras
Add cameras individually, discover them automatically with a network scan, or import up to 100 at once from a spreadsheet. Configure recording mode, motion sensitivity, and retention per camera, and monitor health and event history from one place.
Use it on mobile
View your camera wall, watch live video, review recorded footage, and lock or unlock a mapped door, all from the Genea mobile app.
Works with your cameras
On the gateway path, Genea Video works with any IP camera, so you can keep the hardware you already have. Setup guides are available for the most common brands:
And any other cameras that support RTSP streaming
Built for IT teams
Genea Video is designed to be straightforward to approve and deploy.
No inbound firewall rules. Every connection is initiated outbound from your site. Nothing on the internet reaches in
One outbound allowlist. A short, documented set of endpoints, with no change to your inbound security posture
Encrypted throughout. TLS 1.2 on all cloud connections, DTLS SRTP on video streams, and encrypted at rest in cloud storage
Works with isolated camera VLANs. The gateway simply needs permission to reach the camera network

Controlling who sees what
Video permissions sit alongside your existing Genea roles. You can control who can watch live video, review playback, run searches, export clips, and manage devices, and you can scope access down to individual cameras at individual locations.
A front desk role might see only the lobby cameras live. An investigator might have playback and search across every camera but no ability to change settings.
Licensing
Each camera is assigned a licence. Gateway licences bundle resolution, retention, and recording mode into a single plan, so what you buy is exactly what that camera gets. Cam2Cloud licences are simply a camera count, since recording happens on your own SD card.
You can see usage, remaining capacity, and reassign cameras between plans at any time from the Subscription page.
Where to start
If you are setting up Genea Video for the first time, work through these in order:
System and Network Requirements, so your network team can prepare the site
Add your gateway, then add cameras using Manual, Network Scan, or CSV import
Configure camera settings for recording mode and retention
Map your doors to cameras so access events appear on the timeline
Set up roles and permissions for your team
